Annual ceilidh
The annual ceilidh is on Friday 2nd March from 7.30 to midnight. Tickets
are now available at a cost of £10 for adult, £5 for under 16. As
this is our main fundraising activity, all members are asked to promote
the event and sell as many tickets as possible! There will be the
usual raffle - prizes to any of the fund raising committee. There
will also be a few other interesting ways to enable you to part with
some of your well earned pennies!
Band camp
Following the success of last December's camp, we hope to hold a second
in the spring prior to the start of the competition season. The
proposed venue is Pitlochry again, possibly the weekend of 21st/23rd
April, but we are looking around for alternatives. Tuition at the
camp will be provided for all band members, although there will be
particular focus on the competition band for 2012. Watch this
space for more info.
Second practice
It's been decided we will have a second practice on a Sunday afternoon
every second week, starting on 12th February. Practice time 1.30
p.m. - 4.30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Methodist Church, Cedar Drive,
Greenhills. The practice is open to all band members, but the
majority of time will be concentrating on tunes for the competition
season. Please do your best to attend.
Band's 50th Jubilee
East Kilbride Pipe Band was formed in 1962, so we will celebrate our
golden jubilee this year. This is an important milestone for the
band, and a huge credit to everyone who has been involved over the
years. We're already planning a number of special events and
promotions. More information to follow, but if you have any
suggestions of how to mark this occasion, let us know.
2nd to the 4th December Band Camp WeekendThe band camp has been confirmed for the weekend of 2nd to 4th December at the Atholl Centre, Pitlochry. The cost per head for accommodation (bed, breakfast, plus lunch on Saturday and Sunday) will be £44. A 10% reduction for under 16s will apply. A non-refundable deposit of £10 per person is payable no later than the end of October, with the balance paid up by 23rd November. At present we have 25 members and family attending, but there is still plenty room available for family to join in the weekend. Names of additional attendees should be given to Kath as soon as possible. Car sharing arrangements will be organised nearer the time. Details of the tuition programme will follow.
